CITY COUNCIL ADOPTS ORDINANCE PROHIBITING SHORT TERM HOME RENTALS

 

At the September 15, 2010 monthly meeting, the City Council amended the Offences and Nuisances Ordinance , Chapter 8, Article 8.07,

by prohibiting short term home rentals within the City of Rollingwood, effective immediately.  The Council took this action

because short term rental of property is not compatible with the residential nature of the community.

About Rollingwood, Texas

The City of Rollingwood is a community rich in heritage and tradition. Founded and developed in 1955 by George Hatley, and incorporated as a City in 1963, this community of 1,450 residents is positioned on the West bank of Lake Austin and part of the highly acclaimed Eanes Independent School District.   Rollingwood is located six miles west of Austin and only minutes from the State Capitol.  Rollingwood serves as home to a diverse population and features a unique mix of residential architecture. Like many small fully developed communities across the country, Rollingwood is discovering new possibilities as its redevelops. A recently developed commercial district featuring eateries, retail businesses and professional offices has helped position Rollingwood as a vibrant community for the future.

 

Rollingwood maintains its own police services and provides water, sewer and garbage services. 

Geography

Rollingwood is located above the Edwards Aquifer.  The amount of land area in Rollingwood is 1.69 sq. kilometers. The distance from Rollingwood to Washington DC is 1349 miles. The distance to the Texas state capital is 3 miles (as the crow flies). Rollingwood is positioned 30.27 degrees north of the equator and 97.78 degrees west of the prime meridian.
