Mayor Massingill Temporarily Removes Tree Removal, Pruning and Replacement Requirements

Rollingwood Residents,

The ice storm on Wednesday, February 1 left widespread damage to trees throughout the city. This storm event created hardship on residents and  will require residents and property owners to remove damaged trees for the sake of health and safety. For these reasons, Mayor Massingill is temporarily waiving the tree replacement requirement of Division 10, Subdivision 2, Section 107-375, per authority granted to him under Section 107-375(g).

Further, since numerous health and safety issues exist as a result of this storm, Mayor Gavin Massingill has declared that residents may perform emergency removal and/or pruning of protected trees under Section 107-373(b). Therefore, for trees that were damaged during the mentioned ice storm, no permitting liability exists if you are operating to remove a tree that presents a clear and immediate threat to persons or structures.

We also remind you that it is Oak Wilt season. Please treat any damage to oak trees quickly and appropriately to safeguard against unintentional oak wilt spread. If you have any questions, please contact City Administrator, Ashley Wayman at awayman@rollingwoodtx.gov.

Thank you,

City of Rollingwood
